When I was studying Cataloging in college, our teacher had us make these card catalogs as one of our first lessons. We found the standard punctuations of AACR quite challenging the first time. I was grateful for that since even if these were "manual" methods, its still the same principle.

There may be many technological changes in libraries, but even an 'old' tech like the card catalog is actually quite amazing when you think about it! Imagine, a tool like this can help you navigate shelves upon shelves of books. Librarians of the past really were so innovative to create these systems.
