Jagadguru Shankaracharya Swami Nischalananda Saraswati ji is on a 10 day yatra of Nepal.
Nepal falls under the spiritual jurisdiction of the Shankaracharya of Puri.

The Shankaracharya is visiting Nepal on the invitation of the Prime Minister of Nepal and the Pashupatinath Temple Board.

The Shankaracharya landed in Tribhuvan International Airport at 3 pm on 13 May where he was received by the trustees of the Pashupatinath temple board, and prominent citizens of Kathmandu. The Shankaracharya was then escorted with full civil honours under high security to his place of residence in Kathmandu.

The citizens of Nepal gave Shankaracharya ji a traditional welcome. Students from a vedic pathshala chanted vedic mantras and children greeted the Shankaracharya with flowers.

A reception program was held in Agarwal Bhawan. Prominent among the invitees were Swami Padmapadacharya a renowned sanyasi of Nepal, Shri Arjun Bastola noted Samhita shastri of Nepal, Shri Pradeep Dhakal , Member Secretary of Pashupatinath temple board.

A Buddhist nun from Muktinath presented several extremely rare Shalagrams to the Shankaracharya. The Pashupatinath temple board who have formally invited the Shankaracharya to visit Pashupatinath Mandir on Monday, 14th May.

Both Pashupatinath and Jagannath Mandir fall under the spiritual jurisdiction of the Puri Shankaracharya.

The Moolbhatt, Chief Priest of Pashupatinath Mandir has planned an Abhisheka of Bhagwan Pashupatinath to be performed on behalf of the Shankaracharya.
It is important to note the Chief Priest of Pashupatinath temple is the only priest who can take sankalpa to perform puja on behalf of a Shankaracharya. This is the first time the present Puri Shankaracharya is visiting Pashupatinath temple.
