The Mahakumbh 2025 at Prayagraj has embraced a fusion of spirituality and advanced technology, ensuring a seamless experience for the millions of pilgrims.
Access to safe drinking water was a top priority, given the massive influx of devotees. Unsafe water could pose serious health hazards, while relying on packaged drinking water would lead to massive plastic waste piling up on the riverbanks. Moreover, how many pilgrims could truly afford expensive bottled water?
To uphold the vision of a "Digital" and "Green" Mahakumbh, Uttar Pradesh Jal Nigam took the initiative of deploying Automated Water Dispensing Machines—"Water ATMs"—across the Mela grounds, ensuring safe drinking water at minimal or no cost. Pilgrims can easily dispense one liter of water using a coin, QR code, or card.
