Confused between laminate and veneer?
Here's a quick guide to determine what suits your needs the best!
1. First and foremost, take a look at your budget. Veneer costs double of what laminate will cost you.
2. Note your utility. For example, while veneers are beautiful, they are pretty high maintenance. Prone to scratching and discolourisation too which can normally be avoided with laminate because of their extra hard surface.
Veneers are a serious no in areas where there's continuous contact with water. Example being bathrooms. Unless its spacious and any wooden cabinet is far away from water or moisture.
3. If you'd rather avoid really sharp edges then veneer is your answer. Laminates, no matter how neatly fixed, tend to be sharp and can leave minor cuts and injuries if furniture is improperly used.
4. Finish! Veneers have that classic finish, like smooth butter. They make any space look royal. Laminates too are make for a very classy look, but nothing when compared to veneers in that department.
5.Variety: The colours tones and texture range in veneers is very limited. Veneers generally look better in natural earthy tones as against their dyed form. Laminates on the other hand come in a variety of colours, patterns, textures and designs. You can even get a laminate that looks like a veneer. But it can never feel like one to touch.
Hope this helps when you set out to custom make your furniture!

One of my personal favourites to make a blank space come alive is the wall decals or what are popularly known as stickers. Its completely possible to avoid the hassle of elaborate artwork on walls with these sticker available in a wide array of sizes, colours and designs. The possibilities are endless as is the creative freedom.
Here's an example of how I transformed a boring white door leading to my dressing room into a piece of art. It added the much needed colour to the white palette of my bedroom while drawing away attention from the door.
I've also used a mickey mouse sticker in my daughter's room. They are convenient also because when you get bored or when the child outgrows cartoons, you don't have to repaint the walls. Simply peel off the sticker without any damage to the paintwork!
So now you don't have to be Michael Angelo to beautify your space!
I've often noticed that clinics have really uncomfortable seating. If there are doctors reading this, patients are not in fit condition, so it's normally a good idea to make their wait as comfortable as its possible.

How to make your wall come alive in 60 bucks.
What you need:
Tinted sheets in 6-7 colours. They are easily available in the market for 10 rs. per sheet. I've gone ahead and bought them in rainbow colours.
Double sided tape.
An ordinary pencil.
What to do:
Stencil out or sketch a butterfly outline of your choice on the tinted sheet of paper. Make at least 10-12 butterflies per colour.
Cut them and fold them across the central axis to give them 3d effect. Paste double sided tape on one side.
After you have finished butterflies in this fashion on all colours, start pasting them on a wall of your choice. I've pasted them in an arc. You can get as creative as you want.
Tadaan! My boring living room has come alive! :)
