Yesterday’s webinar on Ankylosing Spondylitis and Parenthood: Planning, Pregnancy, and Pills was one of those sessions that reminds you why these conversations matter.

For a Saturday evening, that is quite something.

We spoke about issues that patients and parents often find difficult to bring up during routine clinic visits.

And that made all the difference.

The interaction was honest and thoughtful.

The questions were real, practical, and often coming from lived experiences. It turned into a conversation rather than a one-way talk.

वह 32 साल की हिंदी शिक्षिका है।
पिछले 10 सालों से बच्चों को पढ़ा रही है।
स्कूल में उसकी पहचान है,
एक सख्त लेकिन बेहतरीन टीचर के रूप में।

लेकिन उसकी एक और पहचान भी है,
जो हर किसी को नहीं दिखती।
उसे 18 साल की उम्र से रूमेटॉइड आर्थराइटिस है।
समय के साथ उसके हाथों के जोड़ों में बदलाव आ गया।
उंगलियाँ सीधी नहीं रहीं।
लेकिन उसने हार नहीं मानी।
वह लिखती है।
वह पढ़ाती है।
वह पूरी क्लास संभालती है।
वह रोज बाइक चलाकर स्कूल जाती है।

एक दिन उसने सोचा,
घर के पास वाले स्कूल में नौकरी कर ले।
उसने आवेदन किया।
रिज्यूमे दिया।
कई दिन तक कोई जवाब नहीं आया।
उसने खुद फोन किया।

जो जवाब मिला, वह चुभ गया।
उसे इंटरव्यू के बिना ही रिजेक्ट कर दिया गया था।
कारण?
“हाथ देखकर लगता है ये पढ़ा नहीं पाएंगी।”

उन्होंने उसकी काबिलियत नहीं देखी।
उन्होंने सिर्फ उसकी बीमारी देखी।

एक पल के लिए बुरा लगा।
नौकरी नहीं मिलने का नहीं…
बल्कि इस बात का कि
सालों की मेहनत,
उसकी काबिलियत,
उसकी पहचान…
सब कुछ उसके हाथों की शक्ल के पीछे छिप गया।

लेकिन वह रुकी नहीं।
अगले दिन वह फिर क्लास में खड़ी थी।
चॉक उठाया…
और वैसे ही पढ़ाया, जैसे हमेशा पढ़ाती है।
आत्मविश्वास के साथ।
पूरी पकड़ के साथ।

क्योंकि सच बहुत सीधा है:
समस्या उसके हाथ नहीं थे।
समस्या नजरिया था।

संदेश
रूमेटॉइड आर्थराइटिस हाथों की शक्ल बदल सकता है।
लेकिन इंसान की काबिलियत नहीं।

👉 मौका दीजिए, काबिलियत खुद दिख जाएगी
