KISAN DIWAS or NATIONAL FARMER'S DAY is observed across the country on 23rd December to celebrate the birthday of Chaudhary Charan Singh, 5th Prime Minister of India.

During his tenure from 28 July 1979 to 14 January 1980;he introduced many policies to improve the lives of farmers in India. He abolished Zamindari through Zamindari Abolition Act & brought about land holding act in 1960.He introduced "Agriculture produce market bill in 1938 to protect the interest of farmers from greed of traders"

The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development, NABARD, today is celebrating its 38th Foundation Day!

Finance Minister Thomas Isaac will be the chief guest for the function at their regional office today. R Srinivasan, CGM NABARD, Kerala Regional Office, will preside over.

Various banks, branches and agencies will be presented with annual Self Help Group (SHG) Award for their contribution towards SHG and bank linkage programme during 2018-19.
