Started in 2006, with the aim to restore, preserve, and protect biodiversity; is an award winning ENGO. We spoke to Bhujbal Pandurang from the organisation on coming across their devotion towards their Tukai Hill project in Baner, Pune. The project includes carrying out tree plantation and conservation, soil conservation and rainwater harvesting activities and helping the urban environment to grow in biodiversity, creating awareness in citizens, schools and companies for greener tomorrow. The organisation has planted more than 40,000 native plants of more than 600 species, and built 30 water tanks for the purpose of watering those trees.
This Baner (Pune) based organisation has implemented numerous Continuous Contour Trench which acts like speed breakers for flowing water. This helps in rainwater harvesting and soil conservation. Their heroic accomplishments have been covered multiple times by various mainstream media like Sakal, Punya Nagri, Pudhari, etc. They have a lot of volunteers under their volunteer programme who make this idea a reality.
Their contribution towards promoting mechanisms for raising capacity for effective climate change-related planning and management, makes Vasundhara Abhiyan the perfect fit for our collaboration on the 13th UN SDG.

According to an article published in India Today, the per capita water availability in India has reduced upto 70% in the last 60 years.
Almost all of us are no stranger to the immortal lines from Julia Carney’s poem ‘Little Things’- “Every drop of water makes the mighty ocean.”
How true is it in the real sense?
We got in touch with Jyoti Sharma ( ), the founder and president of FORCE (Forum for Organised Resource Conservation and Enhancement) NGO .org.in for the answer. ‘The Jal Rakshak and Water Guardian Network’, an initiative of FORCE NGO, is a peer to peer water responsible ecosystem that functions on the 5 R’s framework. The Jal Rakshaks are citizens who are committed towards the practice and advocacy of reducing, reusing, recharging, recycling, and respecting water. Every Jal Rakshak is equipped with a calculator based on a water accounting algorithm that quantifies good work done by measuring the annual water saving. Under its reward programme, you can even win water carats and water credits for saving water and spreading awareness about water conservation, respectively.
The Water Guardians, a subset of the Jal Rakshaks, are trained citizens that play the role of local water experts and advisors. They are responsible for networking, supporting, impact assessments, and capacity building of the Jal Rakshaks.
Every Jal Rakshak ironically symbolises a drop that eventually fills the ocean of water responsibility and conservation.

DID YOU KNOW? An average Indian wastes anywhere between 0-45L of water per day. (India Education Diary)
