Successful cultivation of native morels in Jammu & Kashmir, India — a first step forward.

Morel (guchhi) cultivation trial from Jammu & Kashmir.
After collecting 1000+ samples from different regions and continuous lab research along with indoor and outdoor trials, we narrowed down to 90 isolates.
Out of these, 10 isolates have shown promising results with successful fruiting.
This work is still ongoing, with further optimization in progress.

A fresh Morel emerging from the forest floor — its honeycombed cap formed through differential growth of sterile ridges and fertile pits. These early fruiters often mark calcium-rich soils under temperate hardwoods, and their presence can reflect intricate eco-edaphic interactions. A marvel for both foragers and mycologists.
