Every night before going to sleep, do you ask yourself what are the things you look forward to for the next day? Not your to-do list, but things that will actually make you happy.This is not a sad poetic post romanticising depression. My condition isn't that serious yet but could be. I just want to tell you what symptoms call for an action because you need to take it before it's too late.
Probably the biggest hurdle is not being able to find a concrete answer to why this is happening. You'll think maybe it's nothing, or a mashup of a dozen factors. It weakens you even more when you can't find out the reason. And that happens when you don't get to talk about it. For someone like me with a platform like this where I can vent out whatever, it might be easier. But most people lack that space in their life. Even writing stuff on social media invites opinions like you are being lazy, insincere or simply seeking attention. But what attention do you want when you are simply struggling to get the most basic things done - like going for a walk, taking out the trash or doing the laundry? Have you ever walked down the aisles of a supermarket feeling claustrophobic and wanting to run home and cry, for no particular reason? Has it happened that all you wanted was to talk to someone, might be nothing but gibberish, but you barely managed to say a hello because something in your head tells you that you don't deserve their time? What about self doubt, thoughts of self-harm, a constant tightness in the chest, and a continuous spiral of feeling low and not getting any work done.
