A meaningful coming together of voices that shape children’s futures.

In a recent stakeholder meeting, our child champions, teachers, and representatives from health, ICDS, and SHGs joined parents to reflect on students’ participation and learning. The discussions were grounded, honest, and forward-looking.

With the support of Association Essentiel, Switzerland, Rajadighi Community Health Service Society (RCHSS) has been consistently working to identify, enrol, and support out-of-school children—helping them return to and continue their education journey.

Teachers shared their appreciation for the infrastructure support extended to three schools, including purified drinking water facilities and the collective efforts during Shramadaan Utsav to build and nurture school kitchen gardens. Iron net fencing has further ensured the protection and sustainability of these spaces.

These kitchen gardens are already contributing to daily mid-day meals with fresh, nutritious vegetables, while also becoming learning spaces where children engage with practical skills like gardening.

The half-day meeting concluded on a warm note with the distribution of pending Rural Rise awards to the mothers and a joyful group photograph.

On the occasion of International Women’s Day, Rajadighi Community Health Service Society (RCHSS) celebrated the dedication and leadership of rural women who are shaping stronger communities. The event was organized with the generous support of Association Essentiel, Switzerland, whose continued partnership helps strengthen our efforts toward resilient and empowered villages.

This year marked a special milestone as 10 exemplary rural women received the Rural Rise Award for the first time, recognizing their outstanding voluntary contributions to the Rural Rise initiative. Their efforts throughout the year helped ensure that children attend school regularly, families grow nutritious kitchen gardens, and fruit trees distributed through the project are nurtured with care.

Several awardees also emerged as strong advocates for children’s issues in their villages, raising concerns and engaging with local stakeholders to find solutions. Some women led our Shramadan Utsaav, mobilizing fellow villagers for collective community action.

The celebration was enriched by vibrant Santal dance performances by young girls and SHG leaders, followed by a lively Vawaiya music and play performance by a community music enterprise group once nurtured by RCHSS.

We salute these inspiring women whose quiet leadership continues to uplift children, families, and entire villages.

Teacher’s Day Celebration in Malda

On the occasion of Teacher’s Day (5th September), the RCHSS Education Team organized celebrations across different villages of Malda district. Children from our Children Centres expressed gratitude to their facilitators and volunteers through songs, handmade greeting cards, and short cultural performances.

In each centre, children spoke about the importance of teachers in their lives and shared how learning at the centres has built their confidence. Facilitators also took the opportunity to remind children about Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan’s contributions and the value of education in shaping the future.

The celebration not only strengthened the bond between children and their facilitators but also highlighted the community’s respect for those who dedicate their lives to nurturing young minds. Parents and community members joined in several locations, making the day memorable and inspiring for all.
