New Home Loan Rate :The current base rate cut in the RBI Monetary policy of 29 September has started showing color in the market. The 50 bps base rate cut has made the banks to reduce their rate on Mortgage lending with immediate effect. The message from RBI Governor Raghuram Rajan followed up by the press conference of Finance Minister Mr Arun Jaitely has unfolded the festival bonanza. RBI has on over 9 months has reduced the lending rate by 1.25% and Mr Raghuram Rajan was quite categorical that the same should be transmitted to the borrowers.India's biggest bank State Bank of India was the first one to move, and SBI new interest rate stands at 9.55% for the rest 9.50% for female borrowers. SBI was quick to announce this reduction on the same day in the evening and this new rate would become effective from 5 th October 2015.New home loan at 9.50% is a market reality now.
