There’s just something about starting your day with a steamy plate of misal pav on the streets of Mumbai. It consists of misal (a spicy curry usually made from moth beans) and pav (a type of Indian bread roll). The final dish is topped with farsan or sev, onions, lemon and coriander. It is believed to have been invented by a local Maratha warrior named Kondaji Farzand. He was said to have created the dish as a quick and nutritious meal for his soldiers.
