Aircraft Maintenance Engineering (AME) B2 (Avionics) is a high-tech aviation career path focused on modern aircraft electronic systems. AME B2 engineers specialize in avionics, including aircraft instruments, radio communication, navigation systems, autopilot, flight control electronics, and electrical systems. This category is ideal for students interested in technology, troubleshooting, and advanced aircraft systems.
The AME B2 program is approved under DGCA CAR-66 and requires candidates to clear the prescribed basic knowledge modules. Eligibility includes 12th with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM) or an engineering diploma. Applicants must meet DGCA medical standards, with no color blindness, and a minimum age of 17 years.
The total duration of AME B2 training is 2 years (2400 hours), combining classroom instruction, practical training, and hands-on exposure to real aircraft systems.
