Climate Adaptation Committee – *Kadiyapatnam*
In *February 18* , 2026, HEAL organized a Climate Adaptation Committee with *26* villagers in *Kadiyapatnam* , a vibrant coastal village in Kanyakumari district, under the Canada Fund for Local Initiatives (CFLI) project:
“Advancing climate resilience by strengthening women, youth, and indigenous leadership in community-led adaptation, water management, and ecosystem restoration.”
Highlights
The session was led by women who were unanimously selected by the community during the first consultation to guide local climate action efforts.
Discussions focused on vulnerability assessment, community-validated strategies, and stakeholder engagement.
The community had previously completed village mapping of climate risks and documentation of traditional adaptation practices through focus group discussions.
This milestone in *Kadiyapatnam* reflects the power of inclusive, community-led climate action, where women, youth, and indigenous voices shape a more sustainable and resilient future.
