Health insurance is not complicated… but policies can make it confusing.
Most people miss these 3 things:
• Room rent limit
• Co-payment
• Sub-limits
And that’s where claims get reduced.
I’ve broken it down simply here 👇

If you’re unsure about your policy, feel free to share—I’ll review it.

Hidden risk of incorrect height in health insurance claim
I visited my insurance company branch today and witnessed something concerning.
A person was having a heated argument with the office staff . On discussion, I came to know the claim was rejected.
Reason:
High BMI compared to what was declared.
On digging further:
Height declared at proposal time: 5.9 ft
Current height: 4.9 ft
BMI can increase over time, that is acceptable. But height cannot reduce unless there is a medical justification.
This information was most likely overlooked while filling the form. Some times wrong calculations also goes in while converting ft/inches to cm.
General Consequence:
→ Claim rejected
→ Policy forfeited
→ No refund of premium
The family has submitted a reconsideration request. It is under evaluation.
My feeling — Not feeling good for family but company may reject the claim but hope let the policy continue with the correction. But it is the underwriting team's decision.
It is very important to declare actual height and weight, and verify the complete proposal form before final submission. Every detail is taken as source of truth and compared at the time of claim.
If this was useful, repost for someone who might need it.

Mediclaim Isn’t Enough — Network Hospitals Matter More Than You Think
📍 How to find a network hospital near you — before you actually need one?
Most people open their policy and check with their agent(if any) when they are actually in hospital to discover its cashless or reimbursement.
Here's a 3-step drill I recommend doing RIGHT NOW:
STEP 1 — Know Your Insurer
→ Check your salary slip or reach out to HR for the insurer name
→ Common ones: Star Health Insurance, Care Health Insurance, HDFC Ergo, New India, ICICI Lombard
STEP 2 — Use the Official Network Locator
→ Visit insurer's website → "Find Network Hospital"
→ Enter your PIN code or city
→ Most insurers also have this on their mobile app
STEP 3 — Save 2–3 Hospitals Now
→ Screenshot or save hospital numbers in your contacts
→ Share with your family — they may need it, not you
Suggestion: Company may change insurer or Network lists change. Recheck every policy renewal cycle.
🔁Repost this if you have colleagues who haven't checked yet. One share could save someone a ₹50,000 out-of-pocket bill.
💬 Drop your insurer name and pin code below — I'll tell you the fastest way to find your network hospitals.
Reimbursement claim delayed?
Even small doctor prescription can delay claim by more than 30 days you may be juggling between hospital and insurance company to understand reason.
In my experience I have seen below problems where claim is delayed.
❌ Indoor case papers missing
❌ Final payment receipt not attached
❌ Hospital seal missing on Claim Form Part B
❌ No itemized bill — leads to direct deductions
Small paperwork gaps. Lakhs on hold.
📋 REIMBURSEMENT CLAIM CHECKLIST
(Save this. Share with anyone going through hospitalization.)
✅ Claim Form
→ Part A: Filled & signed by the insured (includes patient details + amount claimed)
→ Part B: Filled by hospital + treating doctor — always get the hospital seal
✅ Indoor Case Papers
→ Stamped xerox from hospital
→ Contains hourly logs of medicines & health status
✅ Discharge Summary
→ Must clearly mention the diagnosis
→ Vague diagnosis = delayed claim
✅ Detailed Hospital Bill Breakup
→ Don’t accept a lumpsum “package bill”
→ Always ask for itemized breakup — it’s your legal right
→ Without this, the insurer will apply deductions
✅ First Consultation / OPD Papers
→ Helps insurer understand when the illness was first diagnosed
✅ Pre & Post Hospitalization Bills
→ Every bill must be supported by a doctor’s prescription
→ Prescription-less bills = rejection risk
✅ All Investigation Reports/Consultation papers
→ X-ray, MRI, Sonography, Blood reports — all originals
✅ Final Hospital Payment Receipt
→ The main receipt confirming full bill payment
✅ KYC Documents + Cancelled Cheque + Photo
→ Of both Proposer and Insured
✅ Hospital Registration Copy
→ Often overlooked. Can stall the entire claim.
✅ Implant Box & Label (if surgery involved)
✅ Police Intimation Copy (if accident case)
Before you submit — get your file reviewed once.
One missing document can hold up ₹5 lakh for months.
Most people only learn this after it happens. Now you know before.
💬 Comment “CHECKLIST” — I’ll DM you a printable version you can take to the hospital.
🔁 Repost if someone in your network is going through hospitalization right now.

When it comes to health insurance, most people focus on sum insured, cashless network, or premium. But there is one small clause that can massively impact your claim amount—sometimes reducing the approved amount by 40–60%.
That clause is: Room Rent Limit.
What Is Room Rent Limit?
Room Rent Limit is the maximum room category your insurance policy allows during hospitalization. If you choose a room above this allowed limit, the hospital will apply a “proportionate deduction” on almost every part of your bill—not just the room rent.
And this is where many customers get shocked during claim settlement.
Different Types of Room Rent Limits in Policies
Different insurance plans follow different rules. Your policy may have:
1️⃣ Fixed Percentage Limit
- Usually 1% of Sum Insured for room rent.
- Example: ₹5 lakh sum insured → Room rent limit = ₹5,000/day.
2️⃣ Single Private AC Room (Most Economical)
- You can stay in any single private AC room, irrespective of its rent.
One Clause That Can Cut Your Claim in Half: Room Rent Limit! When it comes to health insurance, most people focus on sum insured, cashless network, or premium. But there is one small clause that can massively impact your
