phulkari is the traditional embroidery from Punjab. mostly done on a coarse khadder fabric with the finest silk floss, beautiful shawls and dupattas were made by the older ladies in a family for the young bride's trousseau. it was never made for sale or commerce but the beauty and intensity of the phulkaris made them some of the most coveted embroideries from India.
