This month, we're focusing on raising awareness about Perceptual Disabilities. To understand how perceptual disabilities occur, it is important to understand the different stages of learning. They are:

- Input: Initial entry of information into the brain
- Integration: Processing of this information
- Memory: Storing and remembering this information
- Output: Ability to convey that information later on.

Perceptual Disabilities occur at the Input stage where the child is not able to receive information through their kinesthetic, visual or auditory senses. It does not mean that the child cannot see or hear but that they cannot process that information. Also, because the problem occurs at the first stage, all other stages may also be affected.
