It appears that the virus that causes COVID-19 can spread from people to animals in some situations. A pet in China got tested positive for corona virus but didn't show any symptoms of its existence inside its body.

The internal environment of pets is different from that of humans and it has been said that the living conditions inside the body of a dog or a cat are incompatible for the virus to survive. This has given relief to all those pet lovers out there.

Some corona viruses that infect animals can be spread to humans and then spread between people, but this is rare. This is what happened with the virus that caused the current outbreak of COVID-19, with the virus likely originating in bats. The first reported infections were linked to a live animal market, but the virus is now spreading from person to person.

The virus that causes COVID-19 spreads mainly from person to person through respiratory droplets from coughing, sneezing, and talking. Recent studies show that people who are infected but do not have symptoms likely also play a role in the spread of COVID-19. At this time, there is no evidence that animals play a significant role in spreading the virus that causes COVID-19. Based on the limited information available to date, the risk of animals spreading COVID-19 to people is considered to be low. More studies are needed to understand if and how different animals could be affected by COVID-19.

Corona-virus can infect anybody. They do not discriminate against age. Anyone can get COVID-19, regardless of race or skin colour. Older people and people with other health conditions such as asthma, heart diseases and diabetes are more at risk of getting seriously ill.

Elderly and those with underlying health concerns tend to be the ones with the most severe infections.

The WHO advises people of all ages to take steps to protect themselves from the virus, for example by following good hand hygiene and good respiratory hygiene.
