मकर संक्रांती हा महाराष्ट्रातील एक महत्त्वाचा सण आहे. हा सण दरवर्षी १४ जानेवारी रोजी साजरा केला जातो. या दिवशी सूर्य मकर राशीत प्रवेश करतो, त्यामुळे या सणाला “मकर संक्रांती” असे म्हणतात.

मकर संक्रांतीला तिळगूळ वाटणे ही खास परंपरा आहे. “तिळगूळ घ्या, गोड गोड बोला” असे म्हणत नातेवाईक, मित्र आणि शेजाऱ्यांशी आपुलकी वाढवली जाते. तिळ आणि गूळ हे उष्णता देणारे असल्यामुळे हिवाळ्यात आरोग्यासही उपयुक्त मानले जातात.

या सणाला पतंग उडवणे, हळदी-कुंकू समारंभ, आणि सुगड्यांचे कार्यक्रम होतात. नवीन पिकांच्या स्वागतासाठी हा सण आनंदाने साजरा केला जातो. मकर संक्रांती म्हणजे नवीन सुरुवात, सकारात्मकता, एकोपा आणि गोडवा यांचे प्रतीक आहे.
