Water Management 101

How to tell you're watering WAY too long?!
Washing the sidewalk is not your job as a homeowner.
The sheets of water running into the gutter and all the way down the block is a REAL good sign you're watering way too long!
On "average", soil can only absorb 5 minutes of water & the rest becomes runoff. Yes, different soils like sand can take 20 mins or more, but that is not the situation at hand.
The thought of more is better, does NOT apply here!
The simple solution is to learn "cycle & soak"!
Get your yard thatched and aerated. This'll help out tremendously.

At some point each city or municipality needs to work with a True water manager and Marketing team to put together a simple plan on how to water and maintain your yard. A few simple tips and tricks and all of a sudden thousands of gallons of water are saved, people's water bills will be lower & their lawns and plants will actually be better too!
