Peaceful protest in front of PMSSY building

The resident doctors of SGPGIMS staged a peaceful candlelight march in solidarity with Tilottama on 12th August, 2024 from 7-8 pm. The March took the route starting from the PMSSY building to Gate number 1, SGPGIMS and then to the academic building. Faculties from various departments also showed their solidarity and joined the march.

In line with the national call for support by FORDA and other Resident Doctors Forums across the country, the entire SGPGIMS family expresses solidarity with the doctors at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. In response, it has been collectively agreed that residents and fellows at SGPGIMS will begin a protest by suspending elective outpatient clinics, academic activities and elective procedure/surgeries. However, patients in the non-essential service areas will be attended by the faculty members. All emergency services/surgeries, intensive care units and ward services will continue to operate. The demands are as follows: 1. A transparent inquiry and CBI probe into the entire incidence.
2. Swift action against all perpetrators.
3. Immediate implementation of Central Protection Act.
4. Ensuring workplace safety of doctors across the country.
Our plan of action for 13/08/2024 is a peaceful gathering at the PMSSY BLOCK at 09:30 AM.

The sad state of affairs at JJ Hospital Mumbai is disheartening. Mistreatment of resident doctors is unacceptable. Juniors deserve a supportive environment to grow and excel in their profession.

Meaning: Kabir Das ji says that the date palm tree is undoubtedly very big, but neither does it give shade to anyone and the fruit also grows at a very high height. Similarly, if you are not able to do good to anyone, then there is no use in being so big personality.

यह बेपरवाह रवैया किसी और का नहीं बल्कि एमडी/एमएस कर चुके डॉक्टरों की समस्याओं के प्रति एक साथी चिकित्सक का है । वैसे तो चिकित्सा शिक्षा विभाग किसी भी कॉउंसलिंग को सही तरीके से ना करा पाने की अपनी परंपरा के चलते विरोध सहने का आदी हो चुका है किंतु फिर भी बड़े बाबूओं को प्रसन्न करने के अपने प्रयास में प्रायः साथी डॉक्टरों को अपमानित करने से भी ना चूकने वाले डॉक्टरों को भी आत्मावलोकन जरूर करना चाहिए की मुसीबत की घड़ी में उनके साथ बड़े बाबू खड़े नज़र आएँगे या चिकित्सा समुदाय के उनसे जूनियर व सीनियर साथी ?
