Not every design becomes a crowd favourite.
Some didn't get "likes" because they were never posted. Some didn't get sales because they never left the 'drafts' stage. Some became products that hardly anyone bought.
And that's ok.
Because if every idea had to earn its place through numbers - likes, comments or sales - I probably would've stopped experimenting a long time ago.
All those files in the drafts, abandoned concepts and "worst sellers" are proof of experimenting and exploring ideas and not just feeding an algorithm.
Not everything needs to be a hit.
Sometimes it just needs to exist.
(Also, if any of these happen to be your favourite, I'd be more than happy to see it leave my shelf. DM if you want one🙂)

One year ago, I decided to do something mildly terrifying: Sell my art.
What began as a bunch of ideas, doodles, and "what ifs" somehow found its way onto shelves, into homes, and even into two stores.
Was I confident? No.
Was I curious? Absolutely.
Curious to know what would happen if I gave it a real shot. The doubts were loud. Would anyone buy my work? Was I being unrealistic? Was this a terrible idea disguised as a good one?🤔
Every month, while doing the less glamorous side of running a small business (read: accounting), I'd also keep track of how many products had sold.
Today, I checked the total.
800+ products.🥹🥹🥹
Which means 800+ times someone looked at something I made and thought, "I'd like to take that home."❣️🫠🥹
That still feels surreal.
Making a living from art is often spoken about as if it's a hobby that accidentally pays. What many don't always see are the hundreds of tiny decisions, stock checks, design revisions, admin work, product failures, moments of self-doubt, and the occasional existential crisis that come along with it.
But somehow, all of it becomes worth it when someone buys a piece, gifts it to a friend, or smiles at something I made.
One year later, I'm still a little surprised this works.
And incredibly grateful that it does.
Thank you for making space for MiaTypes and for being part of this little adventure. ❤️
