₹5 Lakh Penalty Imposed in Crackdown on Illegal Mining in Kishtwar
Acting on public complaints of illegal roadside mining & dumping, the District Administration Kishtwar conducted surprise raids across Kishtwar town under ADDC Kishtwar Sh. Vinod Kumar Behnal (JKAS) and DMO Kishtwar.
During the drive, illegally dumped mining material was seized, vehicles impounded, and a penalty of *₹5 Lakh* imposed on defaulters.
DC Kishtwar Sh. Pankaj Kumar Sharma (JKAS) stated: _“Zero tolerance will be shown against illegal mining. Surprise checks will continue and strict action will be taken against violators.”_
The Administration reiterated that *no mineral transportation will be allowed without E-Challan*. All mineral-carrying vehicles must now be *GPS-enabled* and operate through the E-Challan portal for real-time monitoring.
Public and transporters have been urged to follow norms and support the drive for a mining-free Kishtwar.
Today, Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha visited Kishtwar for the Pad Yatra under the Nasha Mukti J&K Abhiyan. The visit highlighted the ongoing efforts to raise awareness against drug abuse and promote a healthy, drug-free society in Jammu and Kashmir.
A strong message of unity and collective responsibility was shared with the public during the campaign.
