The first phase of the Hinjawadi Shivajinagar Metro is set to miss its July 15 launch target as authorities await the final safety certificate from the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety CMRS before commercial operations can begin on the 12 station stretch between Maan and Balewadi. The PMRDA commissioner confirmed that once the CMRS report is received it will take at least 15 more days for the official rollout and that he will personally visit all 12 stations to ensure remaining work is completed before services launch. This marks the fifth time the 23 km corridor has missed a completion deadline with the timeline having shifted from May to end of June and then to July 15 before the latest slip. The Chief Minister had earlier this year announced a two phase opening with the first phase in May and second in July but both targets were subsequently revised.
Commuters especially IT professionals travelling daily between Wakad and Hinjawadi have expressed deep frustration saying they have lost count of the revised timelines. The corridor was originally planned to open as a single stretch before being split into two phases with the first phase between Maan and Balewadi prioritised for an earlier opening. Despite the mandatory CMRS inspection now being complete the pending safety certification means even the scaled back July 15 target is out of reach leaving thousands of daily commuters who depend on this corridor to continue enduring the gruelling road congestion on the Hinjewadi stretch with no confirmed date for relief in sight.

⚠️ Heavy Rain Continues to Impact Kiwale & Ravet
Several parts of Kiwale and Ravet have been facing prolonged power outages following continuous heavy rainfall.
According to available information, the disruption is not due to a power shortage or load shedding. The main reason is MSEDCL’s safety shutdowns, as waterlogging and rain-related damage have affected electrical infrastructure in multiple locations. Electricity is being restored only after it is safe to do so.
The situation has also impacted daily life, with residents reporting issues related to lifts, water pumps, internet connectivity and work-from-home. In some areas, people have also expressed concern over repeated and extended outages.
If you are in the affected areas:
✔️ Avoid touching electric poles or damaged wires.
✔️ Keep emergency lights and power banks charged whenever electricity returns.
✔️ Step out only if necessary, as several low-lying roads remain waterlogged.
Are you also facing a power cut?
📍 Mention your locality and how long the electricity has been out. Your updates can help others stay informed.
