Rasam Rasam is a South Indian side dish served with rice but you can also have it as a soup and it is so comforting especially on a winter evening. Rasam also has medicinal properties and is highly recommended for a common cold and flu. Here in South India every house has its own way of making Rasam and there are many variations. This is my simple way of making it. ➡️Hand pound 1tsp Cumin seeds, Black Pepper, Garlic, Dry red chilli and Curry leaves ➡️Heat very little oil in a pan, preferably sesame oil. Add mustard seeds, asafoetida, curry leaves, dry red chilli, chopped tomatoes and the hand pounded masala ➡️To this add salt as per taste and 1/4 tsp Turmeric and cook till tomatoes are mushy ➡️ Meanwhile extract juice from a gooseberry size tamarind ball by soaking it in hot water ➡️Once the tomatoes are done add Rasam Masala and tamarind water. Add some more water and let it boil ➡️Finally garnish with generous amount of cilantro Do give it a try. Tastes best with rice and some poriyal 🤤 #rasam #rasamrice #southindiancurry #comfortfood #deepikapadukone
