The festival begins with Devi Paksha on the auspicious day of Mahalaya and it is believed that Goddess Durga comes to Earth on this Day to give blessings to all the devotees and people across the country. The festival is celebrated in a grand way in West Bengal in particular as the state welcomes Maa Durga with devotion and traditional fervour.
