Kalij Pheasant is among the most googled words these days in Jammu and Kashmir also known as Ban Kukad in desi language abundantly found in parts of the Himalayas. Now the UT Bird of JK maybe or sure this helps in thier protection from hunterers.But they have their own beauty commonly found in Jasrota (kathua), Bhaderwah, Doda, Mansar n Sunisar forest areas.Mostly absent from the valley of Kashmir, Kalij Pheasant is found in some parts of Uri. But they are not that endangered or threatened species.
