Facts About Disney Animated Films. They Make Me Want To Rewatch The Classics

Your favorite Disney animated movies have quite the stories behind them. These fun and interesting facts will make those movies even more entertaining.

1. When adjusted for inflation, Snow White still ranks as the top grossing animated film of all-time. Walt Disney mortgaged his house for the $1.5m budget, a huge amount in 1937.

2. All of Snow White’s blush was done by hand. For a more natural look, some ink and paint artists used their own rouge. When Walt Disney asked how they did it so well, they responded “What do you think we’ve been doing all our lives?”

3. Frozen won Disney its first Oscar since Tarzan. The scene where Elsa walks out on her ice palace’s balcony took 132 hours to complete 218 frames and was the film’s longest frame to animate.

4. The Princess and the Frog generated controversy from the start. Black-Americans objected to the lead character original name, ‘Maddy’. They claimed it to be a slave name. This was later changed to ‘Tiana’. Prince Naveen was also purposely created to be racially ambiguous and comes from the fictional country of ‘Maldonia’.

5. Destino came out in 2003, but it had its beginnings in 1945. It was originally a collaboration between Walt Disney and surrealist painter, Salvador Dali.
