ITANAGAR, June 12: Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs and Minority Affairs, Kiren Rijiju, highlighted the achievements of the Narendra Modi-led government over the past 12 years, describing the period as one of transformative governance, rapid infrastructure development, strengthened national security, and inclusive growth.

Addressing a press conference at the BJP State Office in Itanagar on Thursday, Rijiju said the completion of 12 years of the Modi government was being celebrated across the country, reflecting the people's trust in the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

He noted that Modi has become the longest-serving elected Prime Minister in India and emphasized that democratic governments must remain accountable to the people. According to him, the BJP government has consistently presented its achievements before the public while remaining committed to the welfare of the poor and the development of the nation.

Arunachal and Northeast Receive Greater Recognition

Reflecting on the changing political landscape, Rijiju said Arunachal Pradesh and the Northeast once remained distant from the national decision-making process despite having representation in Parliament. He recalled how senior journalist late Taro Chatung had once remarked that MPs from Arunachal were rarely recognized in Delhi.

"Today, the situation has completely changed. Arunachal Pradesh enjoys a strong voice at the national level, and I am privileged to serve in Prime Minister Modi's Cabinet and participate in decisions concerning the country," Rijiju said, expressing gratitude to the people of Arunachal Pradesh for electing BJP representatives from both Lok Sabha constituencies.

Inclusive Development and Welfare Initiatives

The minister said the Modi government has worked under the principle of 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas', ensuring that benefits reach every citizen irrespective of political affiliation, caste, religion, or region.

He highlighted the government's direct benefit transfer initiatives and noted that Prime Minister Modi's first decision upon assuming office for his third term was approving financial assistance for farmers under welfare schemes.

Rijiju also pointed out that NDA governments are currently in power in 22 states and Union Territories, reflecting the confidence reposed by the people in the BJP-led alliance.

Honouring National Icons and Cultural Heritage

Among key achievements, Rijiju cited the establishment of the five sacred sites (Panch Teerth) dedicated to Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, the observance of Janjatiya Gaurav Divas in honour of tribal freedom fighter Birsa Munda, and the construction of the Statue of Unity dedicated to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

He further highlighted the transformation of Rajpath into Kartavya Path, the development of National War Memorial and National Police Memorial, and efforts to preserve India's constitutional and cultural heritage.

Major Infrastructure Push

Rijiju said India has witnessed unprecedented infrastructure growth over the past decade. He highlighted the construction of the new Parliament building, expansion of the national highway network from 91,000 km in 2014 to 1.46 lakh km today, and the accelerated pace of highway construction, which has increased from 11.6 km per day during the UPA era to 34 km per day under the Modi government.

He also cited landmark projects including the Atal Tunnel, Chenab Rail Bridge, Sela Tunnel and Nechiphu Tunnel.

According to him, additional tunnel projects proposed under the Frontier Highway project in Arunachal Pradesh have also received approval.

Railway, Aviation and Digital Growth

The minister said railway modernization has significantly progressed, with nearly complete electrification of the broad-gauge network and the operation of 164 Vande Bharat Express trains across the country.

He also noted that the number of operational airports has increased from 74 in 2014 to 164 today, making India the world's third-largest domestic aviation market.

Highlighting digital governance reforms, Rijiju said the implementation of GST created a unified national market, while the JAM trinityโ€”Jan Dhan, Aadhaar and Mobileโ€”has enabled direct transfer of welfare benefits worth over โ‚น51 lakh crore to citizens.

He added that the BharatNet project has connected more than 2.14 lakh Gram Panchayats through optical fibre networks.

COVID-19 Response and Global Recognition

Rijiju credited the Modi government for successfully managing the COVID-19 pandemic by scaling up production of masks, oxygen supplies and vaccines. He said India not only vaccinated its own population but also supplied vaccines to 99 countries, strengthening its global diplomatic standing.

He further stated that Prime Minister Modi has received the highest civilian honours from 32 countries and continues to enjoy high approval ratings in international surveys.

Strong Stand on National Security

On national security, Rijiju said the Modi government adopted a firm approach against terrorism and insurgency. Referring to the Uri attack, Pulwama attack, cross-border operations against insurgents and recent anti-terror actions, he said India has demonstrated its resolve to respond decisively to threats against national security.

He also claimed that Left-Wing Extremism and Naxalism have been significantly weakened under the current government's tenure.

Public Campaigns and Northeast Focus

The minister highlighted nationwide campaigns such as Har Ghar Tiranga, Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, Fit India Movement, Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam and Vocal for Local, aimed at promoting civic responsibility, health, environmental conservation and local entrepreneurship.

He added that the Prime Minister's vision of the Northeast as "Ashtalakshmi" has placed the region at the centre of national development efforts, leading to major investments in connectivity, infrastructure and economic growth.

Concluding his address, Rijiju said the achievements of the last 12 years demonstrate the government's commitment to building a developed and self-reliant India while ensuring that development reaches every section of society.

ITANAGAR, June 11: Capital Police has categorically dismissed allegations surrounding the arrest of Shri Gumin Mize, stating that a detailed departmental inquiry found no evidence of misconduct by officers of Police Station Itanagar or any personnel of Arunachal Pradesh Police.

According to an official statement issued by the Superintendent of Police (SP), Capital, Shri Gumin Mize was lawfully arrested on May 20, 2026, at Police Station Itanagar in connection with Bihpuria Police Station Case No. 72/2026 under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Arms Act.

Following the arrest, several allegations surfaced through social media posts, press statements, and public briefings. These included claims that the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Police Station Itanagar had instructed the Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP), Lakhimpur, to assault Mize while he was in Assam Police custody, that Itanagar Police transported his vehicle to Bihpuria, and that his arms licence had been concealed or withheld by police officials.

In response to the allegations, the SP Capital ordered a comprehensive inquiry. The investigation involved examination of witnesses, scrutiny of CCTV footage, analysis of digital evidence, and verification of relevant documents and technical records.

The inquiry concluded that all allegations against the Officer-in-Charge of Police Station Itanagar, the station staff, and other Arunachal Pradesh Police personnel were "baseless, incorrect and fictitious."

The statement further revealed that Shri Gumin Mize was personally briefed by the SP Capital regarding the inquiry findings and was shown the supporting evidence. According to police, he appeared satisfied with the outcome of the investigation. He was also advised to ensure that any actions against drug-related or other unlawful activities are carried out strictly within the framework of the law.

Meanwhile, Capital Police expressed serious concern over threatening messages circulated on social media platforms. The Social Media Monitoring Team reportedly identified several posts and comments made through fake Facebook and WhatsApp accounts that threatened to attack Police Station Itanagar, harm the Officer-in-Charge, burn his residence, and cause injury to him and his family members. Some comments allegedly contained direct and indirect death threats.

Police stated that such threats are unlawful and create fear and intimidation not only for police personnel but also for their families, who are not involved in official police actions.

According to the statement, the fake accounts used to issue the threats have been identified, and the individuals operating them have been traced. Legal proceedings are being initiated against those responsible, and further details will be disclosed in due course.

Capital Police appealed to the public to cooperate with law enforcement agencies and refrain from spreading unverified allegations, threats, or inflammatory content on social media. The department reiterated that any wrongdoing, whether by police personnel or members of the public, will be dealt with strictly in accordance with the law.
