IIT-JEE Main to be conducted online on April 15-16. Piece of Advice to assist aspirants in cracking the JEE Main Online Examination given below.

IIT-JEE Main examination is a gateway to some of the most prestigious colleges in the country. Conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education, CBSE, the test is to take place in two ways this year – offline or pen-paper mode and online mode. The offline test was successfully organized by the CBSE on April 8. The next leg of the examination, the computer-based test is all set to be conducted on April 15 and 16. Applicants are advised to take notice as we reiterate the fact that while the mode may be different, the pattern of the paper, as well as the difficulty level, is going to be the same for both the pen and paper as well as the computer-based test. Over all 11.5 lakh students registered for the exam this year, out of which 2.25 lakh have opted for online mode, reportedly. The statistics for online test-takers have risen since last year when out of 12 lakhs, 1.8 lakh had opted for the online computer-based test. This could be because of the reason that the JEE Advanced examination, which paves the gateway to IITs and other prestigious colleges, will be held completely online. Additionally, CBSE has released a mock JEE Main computer-based test for the students to be able to practice. The official answer keys of this exam will be released in the last week of this month. As applicants across the country and abroad warm up for what is claimed to be one of the world’s most challenging undergraduate examinations, here are a few tips for aspirants taking the online examination: 1. Since students are generally not used to online examination, opting for few online-based mock test before the examination is advisable. 2. Reach at least 30 minutes before examination to complete all the formalities. 3. Remember that the time to read the instructions is not included in the duration of the examination. After the exam, candidates will receive a copy of the question paper along with the options they have marked as the answer to each question via an email. 4. Sheets for rough work are provided in the examination hall itself. Remember not to carry mobile phones, rough sheets or anything except photo ID card and the admit card. 5. Since a candidate has the option of skipping back and forth through the questions in the exam and can easily switch from one subject to another using the panel on right hand side, one must use situation to their advantage by solving the questions they are confident on. Remember not to spend too much time on one particular section or subject. 6. If your computer develops a technical snag, feel free to contact invigilators at the venue for assistance. Don’t worry about the time lost as you will be compensated for every minute lost. 7. Online exams generally have a timer. Do not get distracted by a timer, maintain a steady pace and concentrate on the question in front of you. 8. In a paper and pen mode of test, you cannot change your answers once you have marked them. However, in online mode of examination, one can mark answers for review if he isn’t sure of it. This is a more generous feature offering a chance to students to do some brainstorming on the answers which they aren’t sure about. 9. One can also use language feature to their advantage. If one is not able to understand a particular question in English, they may switch to Hindi medium (or Gujarati – depending on your exam city) and see what it means. 10. As is with offline exams, ensure to keep some time reserved for revision. 12. Lastly, be confident and don’t take too much stress especially because it is an online examination.
