Today 29th November World Movement Disorders Day and I want to spread awareness on Parkinson’s disease and other movement disorders. Parkinson’s disease not a disease of old age it can occur to young people too, symptoms are rest hand tremors, stiffness of limbs, slowing daily activities, tendency to fall, loss of facial expression and change in voice. Early treatment gives good quality of life and days free of illness effects. Many abnormal movements like dystonia, Myoclonic jerks, chorea etc can be due to Paraneoplastic syndrome or autoimmune diseases and only be the presenting features timely diagnosis crucial for management and done by neurologist movement disorder specialist.
