Ingredients
For the Oreo Chocolate Cake:
1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1 1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
2 cups granulated sugar
2 large eggs
1 cup buttermilk
1/2 cup vegetable oil
2 tsp vanilla extract
1 cup hot water or brewed coffee
1 cup crushed Oreo cookies (about 10 Oreos)
For the Oreo Frosting:
1 cup unsalted butter (room temp)
4 oz cream cheese (softened)
3–4 cups powdered sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
2–3 tbsp heavy cream
1 cup crushed Oreos (filling removed)
For the Chocolate Ganache:
1/2 cup heavy cream
4 oz semi-sweet chocolate (chopped or chips)
1 tbsp butter (optional, for shine)
Instructions
Step 1: Make the Cake
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line two 8-inch round pans.
In a large bowl, whisk flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. In another bowl, beat sugar, eggs, buttermilk, oil, and vanilla until smooth. Gradually mix dry into wet, then stir in hot water/coffee. Fold in crushed Oreos.
Divide batter evenly into pans. Bake for 28–32 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool completely.
Step 2: Make the Oreo Frosting
Beat butter and cream cheese until light and fluffy. Gradually add powdered sugar, vanilla, and heavy cream. Fold in crushed Oreos.
Step 3: Frost the Cake
Place one cake layer on a stand. Spread a thick layer of Oreo frosting. Add second layer and frost the top and sides. Chill for 15–20 minutes before adding ganache.
Step 4: Make the Ganache
Heat cream until just simmering. Pour over chopped chocolate and let sit 2–3 minutes. Stir until smooth, add butter if using. Let cool slightly.
Pour ganache over the top of the chilled cake, letting it drip down the sides.
Step 5: Decorate and Serve
Top with mini Oreos, Oreo halves, or whipped cream dollops for a bakery-style finish. Slice and enjoy!
