Centre Hikes Petrol and Diesel Prices by Rs 3 Per Litre After PM Modi’s Call to Cut Fuel Use

Days after Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged people to reduce petrol and diesel consumption and use public transport, the Centre has increased fuel prices by Rs 3 per litre each. The revised rates came into effect on May 15, marking the end of a four-year freeze on fuel price revisions that had remained in place since April 2022.

The hike follows a spike in global energy prices and has pushed fuel rates higher across major cities in the country.

In New Delhi, petrol prices have risen from Rs 94.77 to Rs 97.77 per litre, while diesel now costs Rs 90.67 per litre.

In Mumbai, petrol is now priced at Rs 106.68 per litre and diesel at Rs 93.14 per litre.

Kolkata has recorded petrol prices at Rs 108.74 per litre, while diesel now costs Rs 95.13 per litre.

Meanwhile, in Chennai, petrol prices have increased to Rs 103.77 per litre and diesel to Rs 95.35 per litre.

Manipur Blast Victims Laid To Rest As Final Rites Of Two Children, Including An Infant, Are Held In Bishnupur After Family Collects Bodies From Mortuary

The final rites of two children, including an infant, who were killed in the April 7 bomb blast at Tronglaobi in Bishnupur district of Manipur, were held on Friday after their family claimed the bodies from the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences mortuary in Imphal.

Grieving relatives carried the mortal remains in a funeral procession to their native village, where the last rites were performed amid an atmosphere of deep sorrow.

The children were killed when a bomb struck the residence of Oinam Babuton in Tronglaobi during the early hours of April 7.
