Does Justice Truly Exist?

Today, I am deeply saddened and shaken by the tragic demise of a 20-year-old college girl from FM College, who lost her life while relentlessly pursuing justice. Her story is not just heartbreaking — it is a glaring reminder of the failures of our justice system. She knocked on every possible door, cried out for help, and waited in hope that someone, somewhere, would act — but no one did. And now, we have lost a young, promising life that could have been saved.

This is not an isolated case. Time and again, we have witnessed how the system tends to favour the powerful, the wealthy, and the well-connected, while the common man is left to suffer in silence. When will justice become a right and not a privilege? Why must the poor fight lifelong battles just to be heard, let alone get justice?

Her death is not just a personal loss to her family — it is an indictment of a broken system that failed her. If the authorities had acted swiftly, if her pleas had been taken seriously, she would still be among us today, dreaming of a better future. Instead, we now mourn her and question a system that failed to uphold its most basic duty.

It is high time we reflect on what justice truly means. It should not be something one has to chase. It should not be dependent on status, money, or power. Justice should be swift, fair, and accessible to every citizen — rich or poor, weak or strong.

Let this young girl’s death not go in vain. Let it awaken our collective conscience and stir us to demand reforms. We need a system where justice is not a privilege for a few, but a right for all.
