Himachal Statehood Day 15 January

• 15 April 1948 – After Independence, Himachal Pradesh was formed as a Chief Commissioner’s Province.

• 25 January 1950 – Himachal Pradesh was given the status of a “C” Category State under the Indian Constitution.

• 1 November 1956 – Himachal Pradesh was declared a Union Territory.

• 1966 – The hilly regions of Punjab were merged into Himachal Pradesh, expanding its territorial area.

• 18 December 1970 – The Himachal Pradesh Act was passed by the Parliament of India.

• 25 January 1971 – Himachal Pradesh attained full statehood and became the 18th State of India.
