CLEAR YOUR CONCEPT:-
What is the difference between
Moment and Couple?
• Moment of force is the measure of
turning effect of a force about a
point. A couple consists of two equal
and opposite forces acting with two
different but parallel lines of action.
Each force has its own moment.
• Moment of a force is dependent on
the distance from the pivot and the
magnitude of the force while the
moment of a couple is the net effect
of the two moments of the forces.
Moment of a couple is independent
of the location of the point
considered. It is constant throughout
the plane. The resultant moment of a
couple is called a torque.
• Torque, also called moment or
moment of force, is the tendency of a
force to rotate an object about an
axis, fulcrum, or pivot. Just as a force
is a push or a pull, a torque can be
thought of as a twist.
Couple - Two equal but opposite
forces
Torque - Moment of a couple

Some things only engineers can
understand(JUST FOR FUN):
1) Only an Engineer understands that
he knows nothing: The 4 years of
college and hostel life with rotten
food from the mess, and late night
movies, irritating teachers, pointless
lectures and zero knowledge with a
certificate are all an engineer gets
out of his undergraduate life.
2) Free Wi-Fi: To a true engineer, a
free Wi-Fi gives more happiness than
his monthly salary credited twice to
his account. It is an uncertified fact
that engineers can survive anywhere
with a smartphone, laptop and a
stable Wi-Fi connection as their
entire life right from college has
been spent online.
3)Any question can be answered: This
set of the population alone believes
in the saying “where there is a
question, there is an answer”. They
are the only set of people who very
well know that the answer they write
in exam is nothing but nonsense, and
that the examiner puts pass marks for
the same.
P.S: Add your own points in the
comments and tag your friends.

What is the hottest part of
Refrigerant in Refrigeration?
Ans.Compressor
2.)What does F.O.F Stand for Piping
Design?
Ans.Face of Fl**ge, The F.O.F (Raised
face and Flat face) is used to know
the accurate dimension of the fl**ge
in order to avoid the minute errors in
measurement in case of vertical or
horizontal pipe lines.
3.) Difference between Performance
and Efficiency?
Ans.The accomplishment of a given
task measured against preset known
standards of accuracy, completeness,
cost, and speed is called as
Performance.
Efficiency is defined as the input
given and the work obtained from
that input like money, time, labour
etc. It’s the main factor of
productivity.

INTERVIEW QUESTIONS :-
1.)Distinguish between creep and
fatigue.
Ans: Creep is low and progressive
deformation of a material with time
under a constant stress at high
temperature applications. Fatigue is
the reduced tendency of material to
offer resistance to applied stress
under repeated or fluctuating loading
condition.
2.)What is bending moment?
Ans.-A bending moment is a measure
of the average internal stress induced
in a structural element when an
external force or moment is applied
to the element causing the element
to bend.
3.)Who invented the four-stroke
engine?
Ans.-Nikolavs August Otto, German
4.)Define hydraulically efficient
channel cross section.
Ans: The shape of such section is
that which produces minimum wetted
perimeter for a given area of flow and
carries maximum
flow.
