'Inspire Series --> Women Empowerment'

Studies show that when women are supported and empowered, all of society benefits. In short, communities become more resilient.

Saina Nehwal’s success as an international badminton player, coming up from nothing is one of the phenomenal answer towards Women Empowerment.

Saina comes from a middle-class family and has been groomed into a world-class player in the face of awesome odds. Champions define themselves in their dreams and then work incredibly hard every single day to be successful. It has been no different for Saina Nehwal.

From the age of 12, Saina’s truly big ambition was to win a medal at the Olympics. It was what the posters held up by her early fans goaded her on to achieve. It was what she believed she could do.

A decade is about how long it takes to mature and become world class. Along the way there have been many successes, making Saina one of the top players in the world. There was also the Beijing Olympics in 2008 where she came within kissing distance of a medal.

But in all those long hours of training and conditioning, the big matches won and lost, the stage was really being set for the 2012 Olympics in London.

It is an exciting record of how a young girl supported by her middle-class parents decided to take on the world. Read more on http://twitter.com/sainaHnehwal

1. Virat Kholi and MS Dhoni deliver WIN in thriller…

Virat Kohli, the architect of so many ODI run-chases, scripted another one, this time in a Test, to hold together India's nervy batting line-up and lead the team to a 2-0 series victory.

On another tense day of what has been a wonderful Test match, on a wonderful Test pitch, New Zealand fought hard all the way, and came up on top against some of the heavy weights of India's top order.

Kohli, however, held firm, and with MS Dhoni offering sensible support, India finally chased down the target of 261 late in the evening, under lights, on another overcast day in Bangalore, with Dhoni ending the contest with a four and a six off successive balls.

The end was emphatic, but for much of the day, the chase wasn't. Continue Reading…http://www.espncricinfo.com/india-v-new-zealand-2012/content/story/580485.html
