When we understand why a child reacts the way they do, everything changes.
Sensory regulation isn’t about behaviour ,it’s about how the nervous system processes the world.
If you see these signs in your child, an OT assessment can help make sense of it.
Save this and share with a parent who needs to see it.
Pouring rice from cup to cup — left, right, both together — is a bilateral coordination activity. When both sides of the body aren’t working in sync, it shows up in handwriting, scissors use, and everyday self-care tasks. The good news is it can be assessed and worked on early.

Before we work on handwriting, we work on the body.
Wheelbarrow walking is one of our favourite heavy work activities. It builds upper body strength, shoulder stability, and teaches both sides of the body to work together ,all things that directly impact how a child holds and controls a pencil.
If your child struggles with grip or tires quickly while writing, this is where we’d start.

This is more than just moving through obstacles.
As the child walks, steps over, and reaches, they are learning to plan their movements and control their body at the same time.
