Vi partners with Meta to deploy network-based authentication across platforms

The network-based authentication technology is designed to provide password-less digital experiences for Vi subscribers using these applications.

SMV is a secure authentication method that verifies a user’s mobile identity in the background. It eliminates the need for manual credential entry, application switching, or waiting for One-Time Password (OTP) messages. When a subscriber accesses WhatsApp, Facebook, or Instagram via the Vi mobile network, the verification request is validated directly through the telecom network infrastructure to streamline the user experience.

According to the announcement, Vi users will encounter SMV-supported workflows during several digital touchpoints, including:

New user registration
Mobile number verification
Account login and re-login
Account recovery
Security check authentications
