Malaria has been curable for decades. It still kills over 610,000 people a year.
Part of that gap lives in the diagnosis.
Some P. falciparum strains carry genetic deletions that make them invisible to HRP2-based rapid tests — the most widely deployed malaria diagnostics in the world.
P. vivax takes a different route. It retreats into the liver, persisting long after symptoms resolve — relapsing weeks, months, or years later without a single new mosquito bite.
In parts of Asia, the Amazon basin, and the Horn of Africa, both parasites co-exist. That mixed infection is frequently missed by conventional diagnostics.

Equipped with Truenat and Prorad Atlas, the van enables molecular diagnostics and portable X-ray at the point of care—extending access beyond conventional health infrastructure.
