Capacity Building Workshop for Teachers of Army Public School, Gangtok
22nd–23rd June 2026
Army Public School, Gangtok organized a Capacity Building Workshop under its Annual Teachers’ In-Service Training Programme 2026 on 22nd and 23rd June 2026. The workshop was conducted with the objective of enhancing teachers’ professional competencies, strengthening pedagogical practices, and equipping educators with contemporary knowledge and skills required for effective classroom teaching in the 21st century.
The programme featured a series of enriching sessions conducted by resource persons, including Mrs. Ranju Pradhan Lepcha, Assistant Professor; Mr. Kuldip Sharma, Senior Lecturer; and Mr. Lewan Sharma, Faculty/Technical Coordinator, PM eVidya, SCERT.
Mr. Kuldip Sharma conducted a comprehensive session on Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN) in Early Childhood Education, Assessment Techniques and Learning Outcomes, Competency-Based Assessment, and Question Framing. He highlighted the significance of outcome-based teaching and assessment and demonstrated practical methods for designing competency-based questions that foster critical thinking and conceptual understanding among learners.
Mrs. Ranju Pradhan Lepcha conducted two highly engaging sessions. The first session on Adolescent Psychology and Student Counselling Skills focused on understanding the emotional, social, and psychological needs of adolescents and the role of teachers in supporting students through effective counselling and guidance. Her second session on Core Values and Professional Growth and Development emphasized professional ethics, reflective practice, lifelong learning, and the importance of continuous professional development for educators.
Mr. Lewan Sharma led an insightful session on Integration of AI and Emerging Technologies in Education. He introduced teachers to various digital tools and AI-enabled resources that can enhance classroom instruction, assessment, lesson planning, and student engagement. The session provided practical exposure to emerging technologies and encouraged teachers to integrate innovative digital practices into their teaching.
The workshop aimed at strengthening teachers’ pedagogical knowledge, professional ethics, assessment practices, and teaching methodologies. The programme provided ample opportunities for interaction, discussion, and collaborative learning among participants.
