Dr. Malti Goel receives OCND 2023 Award from IITDAA Dated: 29th April 2023

Dr. (Mrs) Malti Goel (M.Sc. Physics, 1967) President receives “OCND - Outstanding Contribution to National Development” award on 29th April 2023 from IITDAA. Dr. (Mrs) Malti Goel is former Senior Adviser and Scientist ‘G’, Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India. She has taken leadership role in promoting scientific solutions for carbon sequestration and is author of several scientific books on environment & energy related topics, publications in peer reviewed journals and book chapters.

Science Campaign by the Climate Change Research Institute
On the eventful day of June 5, 2023, the India International Centre Annexe was buzzing with World Environment Day 2023 Science Campaign organized by the Climate Change Research Institute (CCRI) on “Cities and Plastics Pollution: Challenges and Solutions”. Students from St Thomas Girls Sr. Secondary School gathered and performed Nukkad Natak to connect with the theme.

World Earth Day 2022
CCRI organizes World Earth Day 2022 as a part of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav on 26th April 2022
The Climate Change Research Institute organizes World Earth Day on the theme “Climate Action” as a part of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav on 26th April 2022 to celebrate Earth Day 2022 in virtual mode. Mr Neeraj Gupta, Ex-AGM, NPCC Delhi delivered opening remarks on the genesis of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav and countrywide campaigns. Dr Malti Goel President, CCRI gave the background and genesis of World Earth Day and its importance in times of climate change emergency. The theme this year is ‘Invest in Our Planet’. She quoted that every day is Earth Day if we start investing in a secure climate future. Mrs Maya Gupa, Director-Principal UPS delivered a special address on India’s cultural strengths in the context of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav. In her inspirational address to youth, she told how they can help India to become Atmanirbhar Bharat and a World Superpower. This was followed by the Guest lecture by a young researcher from IIT, Tirupati, Mr Vipin Kumar Sharma, Addl. Supdt. UCIL on ‘Climate Action through CO2 Capture in Nuclear Materials Industry’. Giving insights into world energy growth, and nuclear energy development in India he explained his research on Uranium extraction from the minerals and the importance of carbon capture in the process development. Mr Gupta gave a vote of thanks to all the speakers and participants. Experts in carbon capture research, students from UPS, community members and members of Governing Council and Executive Committee of CCRI, youth were present during the program.
