Proving its mettle, the commando team of the ITBP won the prestigious all-India police commando competition. ITBP had the privilege of preparing professionally trained special commando units in the late 1970s and early 1980s, which were deployed to safeguard the 1982 Asian Games and later to secure the CHOGM and NAM meetings in New Delhi.
