The visible surface of the Sun is known as the photosphere. This is much cooler than the Sun’s interior and has a temperature near 6000° K. Relatively cool spots are called sunspots and relatively hot spots are called faculae. Above the photosphere is the chromosphere, consisting of ionised hydrogen and helium atoms at 4,000°K to 40,000°K. Beyond this is the outermost portion of the Sun’s atmosphere, the corona, a region of hot (1 to 2 million°K) and highly rarefied gases that extend millions of kms into space. Solar flares erupt from the photosphere into the corona and trigger auroral displays in the Earth’s atmosphere. A flow of energetic charged particles - mainly protons and electrons – from the solar corona into the interplanetary medium is called the solar wind.
The most powerful solar storms send coronal mass ejections (CMEs), containing charged particles, into space. If Earth happens to be in the path of a CME, the charged particles can slam into our atmosphere, disrupt satellites in orbit and even cause them to fail, and bathe high-flying aeroplanes with radiation. They can disrupt telecommunications and navigation systems. They have the potential to affect power grids and have been known to black out entire cities, even entire regions.

कटिबंधीय चक्रवात प्रकृति की एक विलक्षण लीला होते हैं, एक विध्वंसक भी. यह चक्रवात अपने साथ तेज हवा, अप्रत्याशित वर्षा और उफनता समुद्र लेकर आते हैं।

क्या अब इन जैसे चक्रवातों की बारम्बारता में वृद्धि आते रहेगी अरब सागर में दिन पर दिन बढ़ाते हुए ऐसे चक्रवातों की संख्या में वृद्धि क्यों हो रही है ?
क्या अब यही नियम रहेगा ?
जलवायु परिवर्तन का इन चक्रवातों पर क्या प्रभाव पड़ रहा है क्या आगे और ऐसे चक्रवात आते रहेंगे?
