Rambagh’s own archives were once lost to a fire, but over the years, fragments of its history were carefully rediscovered and brought back to life. This book is the result of that journey meticulously researched, illustrated, and documented by YS.

The archival material was patiently retrieved through months of library visits, with YS piecing together scattered narratives to reconstruct a rich and vivid account of the palace’s past. Every expansion, transformation, and layer of history has been thoughtfully captured, offering insight into a restoration process that honours both legacy and detail.

Shot over three years, the photography by YS captures Rambagh across seasons summer light, monsoon moods, and winter hues bringing out its character in ever-changing atmospheres and natural light.

Lavishly illustrated with rare archival material and specially commissioned photography, the book offers an intimate glimpse into the world of Jaipur’s royals, their grandeur, elegance, and way of life.

Today, Rambagh Palace Hotel, under the Taj Group, continues to echo that legacy where majestic architecture, marble corridors, lush gardens, and the warmth of Rajput hospitality come together to offer a truly royal experience.

Spanning 142 pages, the collection brings together rituals, customs, and ceremonial practices that define how different societies celebrate union and commitment. Each section focuses on a unique tradition, ranging from symbolic rituals and attire to regional ceremonies and lesser-known practices. Interactive paper mechanics physically reveal key moments, while the narratives unpack the meaning behind these customs, showing how marriage is interpreted through culture, belief, and geography.
