All I ever wanted was to move my street dogs and my indoor dogs to a farm... a place where they could all finally be together.

It was always my dream for my streeties to have their own bed, their own cooler or air conditioner, their own identity. To stop being "just another street dog" and become someone’s child, someone’s family.

People know Maws & Paws today as a home full of dogs and cats, but very few know how it all began.

Maws & Paws started as one of India’s first holistic pet stores. The sole purpose was never business. It was always to promote adoption over buying, rescue over ignorance, compassion over convenience, and sterilisation over endless suffering. And somewhere along the way, life slowly pushed us exactly where we were always meant to be.

Over the last 10 years, that journey turned into thousands of rescues, 375+ sterilisations, 50+ personal adoptions, and care for over 100 regular feeding dogs. Somewhere during all of it, I stopped counting my own family too. Twenty-four... maybe twenty-six now.

Because somewhere along the way, they stopped being numbers and simply became children.

People think rescue is only love. They don’t see the responsibility, the fear, the constant balancing act behind it. There’s hardly anyone left willing to work with animals anymore, and the few who do deserve respect.

I’m almost turning 40, and some days I wonder how people balance life and work while carrying so many lives on their shoulders.

Some days things get harder. Some days you feel yourself getting tired.

But tomorrow morning I’ll still wake up and make breakfast for fifty plus kids.

Because once they stop becoming rescues and become family… there’s no going back.
