Sharing a case of internal root resorption with upper right central incisor teeth.

Patient visited to our clinic with the chief complaint of swelling in upper jaw region on front side.

X ray revealed features of internal resorption.Internal root resorption is a pathological condition that affects the root canal of a tooth. It occurs when the cells lining the root canal, known as odontoblasts, become damaged or destroyed, leading to the resorption or breakdown of the hard tissues within the root.(pic 2)

causes of internal root resorption includes trauma or any chronic infection.symptoms includes discoloration swelling and pain or it can be symptom less

The treatment for internal root resorption depends on the extent of the resorption and the symptoms experienced by the patient. Mild cases may require regular monitoring and preventive measures, such as maintaining good oral hygiene and avoiding further trauma to the affected tooth.

In more advanced cases, root canal treatment (endodontic therapy) may be necessary. This involves removing the damaged or resorbed tissue from the root canal, disinfecting the area, and filling it with a biocompatible material. In severe cases where the tooth cannot be saved, extraction is required which is done in this case.( pic 2)

Sharing a case of oral squamous papillomatosis diagnosed and treated at Amar Dental Clinic.

A 50 year female reported to our clinic with chief complaint of hard swelling in upper jaw.she was very fearful and literally crying as she was thinking of this

as some kind of cancer. We reassured her that this lesion might not turn out to be a cancer and you should get it diagnosed by

undergoing biopsy.

Biopsy was performed and histopathological findings suggested of squamous papillomatosis which is a benign and not a cancerous lesion.

Later lesion was surgically resected and it showed complete healing after three weeks(pic 3).

Patient was extremely happy and thanked staff of our dental office.
