Facebook ने लॉन्च किया नया एप, इस्तेमाल करने वालों को मिलेंगे पैसे, जानें कैसे

दुनिया की सबसे बड़ी सोशल मीडिया साइट Facebook ने अब एक ऐसा एप लॉन्च किया है जिसके जरिए वह अपने यूजर्स को पैसे देगी। पैसे के बदले लोगों को फेसबुक के साथ अपनी जानकारी शेयर करनी होगी, हालांकि ऐसा पहली बार नहीं हुआ है। इससे पहले भी फेसबुक ने इसी तरह के दो एप लॉन्च किए थे लेकिन यूजर्स की निजता को लेकर उठ रहे सवाल और आलोचना के बाद दोनों ऐप्स को बंद कर दिया गया।

फेसबुक ने अपने इस नए एप का नाम स्टडी (Study) रखा है जिसे गूगल प्ले-स्टोर से फ्री में डाउनलोड किया जा सकता है, हालांकि अभी तक यह साफ नहीं है कि इस एप को आईएस के लिए लॉन्च किया जाएगा या नहीं। इस एप के जरिए यूजर्स की गतिविधियों पर नजर रखेगा। उदाहरण के तौर पर इस एप के जरिए फेसबुक यह पता करेगा कि आप कौन-कौन से अन्य एप इस्तेमाल करते हैं और किस एप पर क्या करते हैं। साथ ही फेसबुक यह भी पता करेगा कि आप किस एप पर कितना समय बिताते हैं।

वहीं प्राइवेसी के सवाल फेसबुक ने कहा है कि यह एप किसी यूजर के अकाउंट और पासवर्ड की जानकारी एकट्ठा नहीं करेगा। साथ ही यह एप यूजर को समय-समय पर इसकी जानकारी देता रहेगा कि आपका डाटा इकट्ठा किया जा र हा है। हालांकि फेसबुक ने इस बात की जानकारी नहीं दी है कि इस ऐप के जरिए लोगों को कंपनी कितने पैसे देगी।

गौरतलब है कि पिछले साल फेसबुक के मार्केट रिसर्च एप 'रिसर्च' को उस शिकायत के बाद बंद कर दिया गया था जिसमें दावा किया गया था कि इस ऐप का इस्तेमाल बच्चे सबसे ज्यादा कर र हे हैं और यह एप एपल की गाइडलाइन्स को फॉलो नहीं करता है। इसी तरह फेसबुक के एक और ट्रैकिंग एप Onavo Protect को भी प्राइवेसी की वजह से ही बंद कर दिया गया था।

Microsoft deletes massive face recognition database

The database was released in 2016 and was built of online images of 100,000 well-known people.

The database is believed to have been used to train a system operated by police forces and the military.

The deletion comes after Microsoft called on US politicians to do a better job of regulating recognition systems.

Active use
Microsoft told the FT the database was no longer available, because the person who curated it had now left the company.

Last year Microsoft President Brad Smith asked the US Congress to take on the task of regulating the use of facial recognition systems because they had "broad societal ramifications and potential for abuse".

More recently, Microsoft rejected a request from police in California to use its face-spotting systems in body cameras and cars.

The massive set of images, called the MSCeleb database, was compiled from images of celebrities found online.

The Megapixels project, which tracks face databases, said the "majority" of images were of American and British actors, but it added that it also included a lot of people who "must maintain an online presence for their professional lives".

Oracle’s alliance with Microsoft halts dead-end cloud strategy

Oracle Corp. announced Wednesday that it has secured a cloud-computing alliance with Microsoft Corp., an acknowledgment the database giant’s go-it-alone approach to the cloud wasn’t working.

The software makers will connect their data centers so mutual customers can more easily use cloud services from both companies, Redwood City, California-based Oracle said in a statement. Clients can run applications on Microsoft’s Azure cloud that are tethered to databases on Oracle Cloud. A single login will let customers access either system, the companies said.

The move by Oracle is bigger than the technical details may suggest. At Satya Nadella’s Microsoft and elsewhere in the cloud landscape, broad partnerships are a common way to fuel demand by letting clients connect critical systems built by different vendors. That strategy has helped Microsoft thrive as the No. 2 provider of computing power and storage, behind Amazon.com Inc.’s Amazon Web Services, as more companies move their data to the cloud. But that hasn’t been Oracle’s way. The company, led by Chairman Larry Ellison, has limited tie-ups with Microsoft and other rivals — and its revenue has contracted for the last two quarters.

Oracle’s decision also is a defensive maneuver meant to preserve the company’s lucrative database business and make its software applications more attractive to companies interested in moving more of their information technology needs to cloud services like Microsoft’s Azure.

“With this partnership, our joint customers can migrate their entire set of existing applications to the cloud without having to re-architect anything, preserving the large investments they have already made,” Don Johnson, the executive vice president of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, said in the statement.
