It was a privilege for AIC RAISE to participate in the Research - Innovation - Enterprise (RIE) Conference, organised by the Tamil Nadu Research Park Foundation (TNRPF) in association with TIDCO.

Our CEO, Dr Nagaraj Balakrishnan, delivered a keynote on the Academic Spin-outs and Innovation Ecosystems, highlighting how universities can become powerful engines for research-driven enterprises. Drawing from the work being done at AIC RAISE, he spoke about enabling structured pathways that help transform academic research into scalable startups and industry-ready innovations.

The session explored how incubators can strengthen the connection between academia, startups, and industry by supporting faculty and student-led spin-outs, facilitating collaboration with founders and investors, and creating ecosystems where research outcomes move beyond laboratories into real-world applications.

A key theme of the keynote was that innovation ecosystems are not built by infrastructure alone, but by a culture of experimentation, mentorship, and long-term institutional commitment. By fostering these elements within academic environments, research institutions can accelerate the translation of knowledge into impactful enterprises.

The conference brought together academicians, entrepreneurs, industry leaders, and policymakers working towards strengthening Tamil Nadu’s innovation ecosystem. The stage was filled with creativity, bold thinking, and the spirit of innovation as students confidently presented their ideas to industry experts.

After an inspiring round of pitches, the participants showcased their potential to turn simple ideas into impactful ventures, and one outstanding team finally emerged as the winner of the pitching competition.
