Location: Pombhurna | Date: October 13, 2025
The Bamboo Research and Training Centre (BRTC), Chichpalli, successfully concluded a refresher training program aimed at empowering women working in the eight Common Facility Centers (CFCs) across Chandrapur district.
The primary objective of this training was to enhance women’s production efficiency, help them adopt innovative production techniques, increase output in less time, and strengthen their economic self-reliance through improved skills, technology, and design. Additionally, the program aimed to expand women’s participation in CFC activities and promote collective entrepreneurship.
Over the past fifteen days, women from the CFCs at Mul and Pombhurna received intensive hands-on training. A total of 20 women participated — 12 from Pombhurna and 8 from Mul. The sessions covered topics such as improving production skills, techniques for increasing output efficiency, new technologies and designs, and demonstrations of top-selling bamboo products.
At the valedictory ceremony, Mr. Manoj Khairnar, Director of BRTC, personally interacted with the participants, addressing their challenges and encouraging them to utilize their new skills for sustainable livelihood. He announced the concept of establishing multiple bamboo-based enterprises — such as bamboo craft production, agarbatti (incense stick) making, toothpick manufacturing, and carpet weaving units — all under one roof at Pombhurna. He assured continued institutional support for expanding CFCs to strengthen women’s self-employment and economic independence.
As part of the program, a health check-up was organized for the women participants. The event also marked the inauguration of a newly constructed office-cum-meeting hall at Pombhurna by Director Mr. Khairnar.
